In a world where financial institutions often struggle with complex, imported risk management systems, Prospero Solutions is rewriting the narrative. Founded by Bobby and Paul, Prospero is Indonesia’s first homegrown risk management startup—designed to be affordable, scalable, and compliant with global standards like Basel III and ISO 31000.
We sat down with the founders to learn more about their journey, their technology, their vision for the future and how they’re reshaping risk management in Indonesia and beyond.
🌟 The Inspiration
Q: What inspired you to launch Prospero, and what problem are you solving?
Bobby:
The inspiration came from seeing firsthand how many financial institutions in Indonesia struggle with risk management. Available systems were expensive imports—too complex and not localized. We wanted to build something tailored to the Indonesian market: affordable, intuitive, and aligned with international standards. Our mission is to democratize risk management technology, making it accessible not just to big banks but also smaller cooperatives and insurers.
Paul:
From a technology perspective, I saw the opportunity to build a scalable SaaS platform that adapts to institutions of all sizes. What excites me is that this isn’t just solving a local problem—it’s a solution that can be replicated across emerging markets globally.
🔗 The Prospero Approach
Q: How does Prospero’s integrated approach create value for clients?
Bobby:
We designed Prospero as a one-stop partner. The Learning Academy builds mindset and capabilities, Consulting helps design practical frameworks, and the SaaS platform turns those frameworks into daily execution. It ensures clients don’t just “plan,” but actually embed risk management into operations.
Paul:
The synergy is powerful. Insights from the Academy and Consulting feed into the SaaS platform, while SaaS data helps clients refine their strategies. It creates a continuous loop of knowledge, practice, and technology.
💡 Standing Out
Q: What makes Prospero different from other players in the region?
Bobby:
We’re built in Indonesia, for Indonesia and beyond. Affordable, globally compliant, and practical—designed for everyone from big banks to rural cooperatives.
Paul:
On the tech side, our strength lies in scalability and integration. Prospero is an ecosystem, not just a product—and that’s difficult for global players to replicate.
⚙️ The Technology
Q: Paul, can you explain the core technology behind Prospero?
Paul:
At the core is a modular, cloud-native architecture that simplifies complexity without overwhelming users. We replaced manual spreadsheets with automation, integrated dashboards, and real-time analytics. This not only improves efficiency but also builds a stronger, proactive risk culture within organizations.
Q: What were the biggest technical challenges, and how did you overcome them?
Paul:
Balancing regulatory complexity with user-friendliness was tough. We solved this by making the architecture modular—so clients can start simple and expand. Scalability was another challenge since we serve both large banks and small cooperatives. Cloud-native infrastructure and robust data security were key to solving that.
Q: How do you ensure security, scalability, and compliance?
Paul:
We use bank-grade encryption, role-based access control, and continuous monitoring. The platform scales seamlessly, whether it’s for a rural bank or a top-tier institution. Regulatory frameworks like OJK, Basel III, and ISO 31000 are embedded directly into workflows and continuously updated.

👤 The Founders’ Journey
Q: Tell us about your backgrounds and what led you into entrepreneurship.
Bobby:
I’ve always been in risk management—Head of Risk at Bank of India and Country Risk Manager at AIA. I saw how crucial risk management is, yet often neglected. That motivated me to build Prospero, where risk isn’t just compliance—it’s resilience and growth.
Paul:
I come from a tech background, building scalable systems across finance, AI, and crypto. What drew me to entrepreneurship was solving systemic problems with technology. Meeting Bobby was a natural fit—we combined domain expertise with execution.
🚀 The Road Ahead
Q: What is your future vision for Prospero?
Bobby:
We want Prospero to be the go-to risk management partner in emerging markets. Our next focus is expanding tools that help institutions anticipate risks, not just react to them.
Paul:
From a tech and market perspective, we’re scaling beyond Indonesia into Southeast Asia and beyond. Our modular, cloud-native design makes Prospero adaptable, and we want to prove that an Indonesian-built SaaS can compete globally.
📌 Final Thoughts
Prospero isn’t just a software company. It’s a story of local innovation meeting global standards. By building something simple, scalable, and affordable, Bobby and Paul are making risk management accessible—and transforming how financial institutions across emerging markets prepare for the future.
