Founder Magazine (FM): Ato, thank you for joining us. Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your journey into entrepreneurship?

Ato Kwamena Mensah (AKM): Thank you for having me. I’m passionate about creating solutions that solve everyday problems for Ghanaians. My background is in finance and business strategy, but I’ve always had a deep interest in agriculture and technology. Together with my co-founders, we launched LBH Limited to create innovative tools that empower farmers and small businesses.

🚀 About LBH Limited

FM: What exactly does LBH Limited do?

AKM: LBH Limited is an agritech and fintech startup. Our mission is to improve farming productivity and financial access for smallholder farmers. We develop tech-driven solutions that help farmers manage crops, access financing, and link directly with buyers. Essentially, we’re building a system that supports farmers from production to market.

FM: What inspired you to start this company?

AKM: I grew up around farming communities and saw the struggles farmers face: low yields, lack of access to capital, and exploitation by middlemen. We realized that with the right technology and financial tools, farmers could increase their incomes and sustain their families better. That was the inspiration behind LBH Limited.

FM: What problem is LBH Limited solving in Ghana’s agriculture sector?
AKM: Farmers often lack information, financing, and access to markets. Our platform integrates digital tools to provide farmers with advice, affordable credit, and direct connections to buyers—helping them get better prices and reduce losses.

FM: How many farmers have you reached so far?
AKM: We’ve worked with several farmer groups across Ghana and are steadily expanding. Our goal is to impact tens of thousands of farmers within the next few years.

FM: What has been your biggest challenge so far?
AKM: Access to funding. Building technology is expensive, and scaling in rural areas requires infrastructure and partnerships. Convincing investors that agritech in Africa can be both impactful and profitable is a constant challenge.

FM: How do you see the future of agritech in Ghana?
AKM: I believe agritech will transform Ghana’s economy. If we harness digital tools, we can improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and make farming more attractive to the younger generation.

FM: Do you consider LBH Limited more of a fintech or an agritech company?
AKM: It’s both. Agriculture and finance go hand in hand. Farmers need credit to expand and tech to improve yields. We see ourselves as a bridge between the two.

FM: If you weren’t building LBH Limited, what would you be doing today?
AKM: Probably working in finance or policy, supporting initiatives to strengthen agriculture and entrepreneurship.
